Camp Clinicians
Anthony J. Maglione is the newly-appointed Director of Choral Studies at the University of Houston and Director of the Houston Symphony Chorus. Choirs under his direction have appeared at state, regional, and national conventions, and released internationally-distributed commercial recordings. A frequent collaborator, he has prepared choirs for performances with the American Spiritual Ensemble, Boston Camerata, The Canadian Brass, Joyce DiDonato, The King’s Singers, and the Mark Morris Dance Group. As a composer, Maglione’s music has appeared at state-, regional-, and national-level conventions, on TV, in video games, and has been recorded on Albany Records, Centaur Records, GIA Choral Works, and Gothic Records. In addition, Maglione lends his ears to recording projects around the country and recently received national attention through his ground-breaking production work with Sam Brukhman and Verdigris Ensemble on “Betty’s Notebook” by composer Nicholas Reeves. As a tenor, Maglione has appeared with renowned organizations such as Artefact Ensemble, Cappella Romana, Kantorei KC, The Same Stream, Spire Chamber Ensemble and the Grammy-nominated St. Tikhon Choir. Maglione teaches workshops and has conducted All-State and honor choirs around the country. He holds degrees from Westminster Choir College of Rider University, East Carolina University, and the University of California, Los Angeles.

Roxan Silva, born in Chicago, Illinois, received her Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance in 2002 from Houston Baptist University. She is a member of TMEA and TCDA and has served as Vocal Region Chair for Region 17. Ms. Silva taught in Alief ISD before moving to Pearland ISD to become the assistant choral director at Pearland High School. In 2008, she assumed duties as Director of Choral Activities for Dawson High School. Roxan has also enjoyed teaching AP Music Theory since her move to Pearland ISD. Her choirs have consistently earned sweepstakes and have performed for invitationals such as the University of Houston Choral Invitational as well as the Houston Baptist University Choral Invitational. The Encore Choir was invited by Maestro Robert Franz to sing with the Houston Symphony on two different occasions. Mrs. Silva enjoys being able to go other high schools and junior high schools as a clinician for contests and festivals. She has also had the privilege of working with students around Texas at All State Camps at several places such as Houston Christian University, UTSA, Lamar University, and University of Houston. Outside of school, Ms. Silva has served as director of music for several churches for the Diocese of Galveston-Houston. She currently directs the choir at St. Helen Church in Pearland. Ms. Roxan Silva currently resides in Pearland with her husband, Mark, and she has three sons, Angelo, James, and John.
